About Muff Dudgeon
‘We may think we are nurturing our garden, but of course, it’s our garden that is really nurturing us’
– Jenny Uglow –
As a Designer and plantsperson, my aim is to create a garden that suits you and your lifestyle.
My first gardening memories are a patch of oxalis that I was always given, as a small girl to weed. I have loved weeding ever since, but not many people do! My father used to take me on ‘ward rounds’ and he taught me a love of plants and appreciation of them.
After my own nursing training, I completed a BA in Heritage and Landscape with further studies in Geology. This led to some time as a guide and walk leader in the South West, during which time I visited many of the Great Gardens of this area. One thing led to another… and this time it was a Diploma in Garden Design with Robin Williams and Moira Farnham.
As a walk leader, one had to be aware of every smallest plant and bird.. and listening to birdsong has always been a great pleasure. My aim in a garden is to provide year round sustenance for wildlife.. this not only helps in the grand scheme of things, it also creates a more interesting place for us to enjoy.
It really doesn’t matter if your garden is small or large, every little plant can give pleasure. The right plants in the right place are the essence of a successful garden. Underpin this with structure, shape and form and you will have a good garden.
If you feel that I could provide some solutions and ideas for your garden, do give me a call. We can have a chat on the telephone and then the next step would be to arrange to meet and see your garden. I look forward to hearing you!
